Stop MS campaign

Creation of a series of animations that tell the stories of people living with multiple sclerosis to spread awareness and encourage conversation.

The MS Society is the UK's largest charity for people affected by multiple sclerosis (MS), providing support, news, information and research in search of treatment and cures for MS. As part of their Stop MS campaign, the MS Society wanted a series of animations to provide content to encourage conversation, spread awareness and drive donations. 

The process took a collaborative approach, the animations were co-produced alongside people living with MS, working together to visualise their experiences and bring their ideas to life, as well as narrating their own story. The design was based on the MS Society's existing illustration and animation style.

Rebbecca's Story - "I may look ok..."

Rebecca lives with relapsing MS and her story focuses on the day to day struggle of living with invisible symptoms. The animation depicts Rebbecca living her normal life but with a constant shadow alongside her, representing the invisible symptoms that impact her daily life, from loss of balance and fatigue to cognitive problems. The reduced colour palette and stripped back scenery places Rebecca and her invisible symptoms at the forefront, making the invisible, visible.

Jacqueline's Story - "It's ok not to be ok."

Jacqueline has progressive MS and we worked together to show a snippet of a day in her life. The ‘point of view’ was key to bringing Jacqueline’s story to life, allowing others to step into her shoes. The animation slides through the highs and lows of her day, with the pace and colours highlighting the mood and the impact of MS.
